DERRY PAPER AND BOOK CONSERVATION LTD
As a team, we can offer full paper and book conservation and restoration. Our skills include dry cleaning, full aqueous and spray method deacidification, resizing, wet and dry repairs, relining, encapsulation and resewing of conserved and repaired leaves prior to binding.
We also repair individual manuscripts and leaves that are still held in sound bindings, along with general refurbishment work. All our bookbinding is by way of traditional handcraft methods, without the use of machinery. Full leather and cloth restoration, rebinding and covering can be carried out along with gold leaf finishing and tooling.
We also make archival drop back boxes and phase boxes, presentation and display folders and bindings to client's own individual specifications.
All of the methods that we use are fully reversible as far as possible. All the materials that we use are where ever possible acid free and made to archival standards. All adhesives used are reversible and acid free.
Any work that we carry out follows an on site visit where a client's requirements and consideration for each items future use is discussed, followed by a careful inspection and detailed report and quotation being offered. The report and quotation outline the methods and materials that we would use in respect of any work we would carry out and also their cost. This service we offer free of charge and without obligation.
